Last updated: August 26, 2026These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern the services provided by Tools on the Wheels ("we," "us," or "our"), a handyman and renovation business serving the Greater Toronto Area, and your use of our website. By requesting a quote, booking a service, or using our website, you agree to these Terms.
1. Services We Provide
Tools on the Wheels offers mobile handyman and renovation services, which may include but are not limited to: painting, door installation, window finishing, kitchen cabinets, drywall installation, tiling, patch work, plumbing work, finishing (baseboards and trims), and flooring (vinyl, hardwood, and laminate). We reserve the right to decline any job that falls outside our expertise, that we consider unsafe, or that would require licensing or certification we do not hold. Where specialized or licensed trades are required (for example, certain electrical or gas work), we will let you know so you can engage an appropriately licensed professional.
2. Quotes & Estimates
- Quotes and estimates are provided free of charge and without obligation.
- An estimate is our good-faith assessment based on the information and access available at the time. It is not a fixed price unless we expressly state so in writing.
- The final cost may change if the scope of work changes, if hidden or pre-existing conditions are uncovered (for example, water damage, mould, or structural issues behind a wall), or if you request additional work.
- We will discuss any material change in cost with you before proceeding with the affected work.
- Quotes are typically valid for 30 days unless otherwise stated.
3. Booking & Scheduling
A booking is confirmed once we have agreed on the scope of work and a date. We make every reasonable effort to arrive within the agreed window, but arrival times may be affected by traffic, weather, or delays on preceding jobs. If we are running late or need to reschedule, we will contact you as soon as possible.
4. Pricing & Payment
- Pricing may be quoted as a flat rate for a defined job or on an hourly/day-rate basis, as agreed in advance.
- A deposit may be required for larger jobs or to cover materials; this will be communicated before work begins.
- Payment is due upon completion of the work unless other arrangements have been agreed in writing.
- Accepted payment methods will be confirmed at the time of booking.
- Late or unpaid balances may be subject to reasonable follow-up and, where necessary, recovery of collection costs permitted by law.
5. Materials
Materials may be supplied by us or by you, as agreed. Where we supply materials, the cost will be reflected in your quote or invoice. Where you supply materials, you are responsible for ensuring they are suitable, sufficient in quantity, and available on site when work begins. We are not responsible for defects, shortages, or delays caused by materials supplied by you.
6. Your Responsibilities
- Provide safe, reasonable, and timely access to the work area.
- Clear the work area of personal belongings, valuables, and obstructions where possible before we arrive.
- Inform us of any known hazards, hidden services (wiring, piping), or special conditions on the property.
- Ensure that you own the property or have the necessary authority or landlord permission to have the work carried out.
7. Cancellations & Rescheduling
If you need to cancel or reschedule, please give us as much notice as possible. For larger scheduled jobs, cancellations made with very short notice may result in the loss of a deposit or a charge for materials already purchased or time reserved. Any such terms will be made clear to you at the time of booking.
8. Workmanship & Warranty
We take pride in our craftsmanship and stand behind our work. If a defect in our workmanship appears within a reasonable period after completion, contact us and we will assess it and, where the fault is ours, correct it at no additional labour cost. This does not cover: normal wear and tear; damage caused by misuse, accidents, or others; issues arising from materials you supplied; pre-existing conditions; or alterations made by anyone other than us after completion. Manufacturer warranties on materials and fixtures are separate and subject to the manufacturer's own terms.
9. Liability
We carry out our work with reasonable skill and care. To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability arising from any job is limited to the amount you paid for that job. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control (including weather, supply shortages, or illness). Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
10. Permits & Regulations
Some work may require permits or must comply with the Ontario Building Code or local municipal by-laws. Where permits are needed, we will discuss this with you. Unless expressly agreed otherwise, obtaining permits and any associated fees are the property owner's responsibility.
11. Photos of Work
We may take photographs of completed work for our portfolio, website, and marketing. These photos will focus on the work itself and will not identify you or your address without your consent. If you would prefer we not photograph your project, simply let us know.
12. Website Use
Our website is provided for general information about our services. While we aim to keep it accurate and up to date, content may change without notice and is not a guarantee of availability or price. The Tools on the Wheels name, logo, and content are our property and may not be copied or reused without permission.
13. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The version posted on our website at the time you book applies to your job. We encourage you to review this periodically.
14. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein. Any disputes will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Ontario.
